"The remarkable thing we have is a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude." -Charles Swindoll
Embrace the fact that each day you have the ability to make the choice of what your attitude will be that day.
Not everyone will meet your expectations, they might not even act like a human being in some cases, but you can learn from even those that disappoint you. If nothing else, keeping the attitude you want in the face of their behavior is a great lesson.
Remember... "The ones that are the hardest to love are the ones who need it most." -Socrates
Chose your attitude today. Don't let anyone or anything change the note on your string.
"We live in deeds, not years: In thoughts, not breaths; In feelings, not in figures on a dial." -David Bailey
Some people say time is a constant.
I would say that it is more a perception.
Think of time spent doing something you absolutely love. Does time pass more quickly than when you are doing something you might not like to do?
Would you say that time flies when you are having fun?
In the end you won't remember how many ticks of the clock it took to hit a home run, or play catch with your kids, or help someone who needed it, but the feelings you will remember.
They are timeless.
And they are time well spent.
"We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Each of us have abilities and challenges that are different from one another.
Each of us are at different places on our private charts.
That is why it is important to pay attention to the lessons in life that you are supposed to learn. Your lessons are different from anyone else.
Rather than compare yourself to others, explore the opportunities that are out there just for you.
Learn to pay attention to that inner voice that is your chart and your guide.
It won't steer you wrong.
~Nothing changes if nothing changes~
Are you wanting to make a change in your life?
Look to what you consistently do every day.
Your habit patterns are what make up who you are and where you are in life.
Take time to evaluate the patterns you have developed and how they can be changed to serve you better.
Remember..."Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity." -Albert Einstein
"You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn't worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens." —Louise Hay
No matter who is in your life, chances are they are not as hard on you as you are on yourself.
What does that do for you? Has it brought you to the place you really want to be?
Try to see yourself as God sees you. As you see your child or your pet.
They most certainly have flaws, but the joy and love they bring is always the first thing you think of when you see them.
Next time you look in the mirror, try and see yourself as who you are...right now...a beautiful child of God. Even with all your flaws, you bring joy and love to him...just as you are.
You will never be perfect. Not while you are here. Here is about learning and growing in love...and it starts with yourself.
"Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations." -George Bernard Shaw
Who wants to live like a candle? A candle has to be re-lit often because it is weak and easily put out.
I say live like a blow torch. One that can cut through whatever life throws at you. One that shines bright for the time that you are here.
The brighter your flame the more illuminated your life will be.
Now... where did I put those matches?
"The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one." -Elbert Hubbard
What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
Would you look at the obstacles and setbacks differently?
Could you push through the tough times if you knew you would eventually get where you wanted to go?
Fear seems to creep in and creates false limitations on us as we age.
When you were a child did you quit trying to ride a bike because you fell down a hundred times?
You had no fear. Don't make the mistake of letting it creep into your decision making today.
"Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant." -Horace
It is easy for a person to put on a smile when the going is easy.
It is hard to see the true nature of a person without some stress being applied.
The full abilities of a person comes out when things get more difficult.
If you never have a test there is no way to gauge just how powerful you really are.
Realize that these tests are chances for you to be at your best and grow for future challenges.
Good times are great but your true talents are only uncovered when the going gets tough.
Remember..."Every adversity has withing it the seed of equal or greater benefit." -Napoleon Hill
Don't be afraid to try something new. The ark was built by amateurs, and the Titanic was built by experts! -Anonymous
There are many excuses for not trying something new that could make your life better...
No extra time...
It all boils down to fear. Fear of the unknown or fear of failure.
Fear is normal when facing uncertainties, and many people let that fear keep them from moving their lives forward.
Don't be one of those people. Step out in faith that if you have an idea to make your life better, that thought comes from a good place. It comes from a God place, and he will be with you just like he was with Noah.
You don't need to be an expert to have great expectations!
"Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow."
- Mary Anne Radmacher
It takes courage to start a new journey.
It also takes courage each day and every step of that new journey, because each day brings the unknown.
The good news is that over time, when you can look back and see that you have made progress, each step forward becomes more a matter of fact.
And if in the evening you see that your progress is not as you would have it, tomorrow is another day to take the next step.
So have the courage to begin the journey, and to stay the course.
Change is never easy, but nothing worth having is ever without effort.
