Daily Motivational Quote For March 24, 2011Thursday March 24, 2011 "The greatest wealth is health." -Virgil This is one of my favorite quotes on health and I use it often with my patients in the office. Years ago I really wanted to impress on my patients how important it was to start building health at a young age and not wait to think of their health until a health crisis occurs. So I came up with the idea of a "Health Savings Account." I would ask if they were saving for retirement and how long they planned on living after retirement. Most would answer that they indeed were saving for retirement and that they wanted to have many years to enjoy it. Then I would ask them if they were doing things on a regular basis to build their health for this retirement. Many would say no. So I tell my patients that saving for retirement without building a good health account with regular deposits did not make much sense. The average American only lives 5 years past retirement no matter what age they retire. This is because they do not have enough in their health account to last them any longer. Just like a bank account, if you start building it when you are older it is harder to catch up. So start making regular daily deposits into your health account now...because without your health you won't be around to spend all that wealth! In Health, Dr. Bryan Schuetz
